Victorian Range

The mid-Victorian style furniture of 1840-1900 combined elegance with strength and comfort. Much of Victorian furniture was to some extent based on earlier styles exposed to a gride variety of influences, like French-Empire , neo-Gothic and Regency-revival. The Gothic influence is evident in for example the haevy carving on cabinets. Fashion too had its influence as chairs were made with wider, rounder seats and curved backs. Mahogany, walnut and rosewood were the woods most commonly used.
